the world we want 6.3.18

Through conversation after conversation, I have realized that everything we do revolves around problem solving if you think about it hard enough. We fill needs, satisfy cravings and desires, and try to be good enough to make a difference. The constant problem solving is due to brokenness that has swept through in everyone’s life, no one is exempt from pain and suffering.

“I’m trying to fix a place that feels broken”

There is a song off of the album “Fading West” by the band Switchfoot that caught my attention the first time I heard it while sitting in the passenger seat of my ex-boyfriend’s car. It is titled “The World You Want.” Go, give it a listen, please. It questions our actions and values into the kind of world that we have created and are shaping every day. This is powerful stuff.

“You start to look like what you believe You float through time like a stream If the waters of time are made up by you and I If you change the world for you, you change it for me”

You have the power to influence. You have the choice to make a change, big or small. Do not shy away from the fact that you see the world in a certain light that no one else sees and you can share it. For better or worse, impact is real. You have the chance to make things right in the world.

What are you going to do about it?

“Is this the world you want? You’re making it”

(all quotes in bold are from the song “The World You Want” by Switchfoot)
