Why Dressember?

Dressember is a campaign that raises awareness and funds to anti human trafficking organizations because there are still 40 MILLIONS slaves around the globe.

"Our Vision is a World without Slavery."

Dressember started with Blythe Hill who loved puns. She came up with wearing a dress everyday in December and called it "Dressember." Her friends found it fun and joined in! Soon she realized that she was capable of doing a fun, pun activity and could raise money for a worthy cause. Her passion for ending slavery in our lifetime was the draw to make Dressember a nation-wide campaign.

I had the honor of hearing her speak of her passions and story at the Yellow Conference this summer, she was truly inspiring! It's great to see how one small idea can grow into something that could change the lives of people globally.

Human trafficking is done in a few different ways such as forced marriages, forced labor, and forced sexual exploitation. The organizations that Dressember gives to go out and rescue people being trafficked and give holistic ways of healing to them. They also prevent human trafficking by providing jobs and spreading awareness to those at risk of becoming exploited.

This is not just something that you hear about and forget, these are people we are talking about. Real humans are in slavery TODAY and it is not okay.

I had watched friends do Dressember for two years now, and I decided- it's my turn! It's all I can do to spread awareness of the issues surrounding human treatment, but this time I can help through a fundraiser!

I see it like this, wearing a dress everyday in December is the same as doing a Walk-A-Thon- they are just simply different activities to raise funds.
